emarketforecasts - Austria
Abstract
Austria accounts for an estimated 1.5% of West European electronics output and 2.2% of the overall electronics market. After a record year in 2000, when electronics production increased in by 19.0%, Austr ian electronics output fell for six consecutive years between 2001 and 2006 and was expected to show a modest increase in both 2007 and 2008 on the back of higher growth primarily in the industrial sector. With a small domestic market the Austr ian electronics industry depends on the situation in Europe and internationally. Exports to Germany , which according to the FEEI accounted for just over 29% of Austria ’s electromechanical and electronic product exports in 2006, but declined by 2.9% during the year. Exports to Central and Eastern Europe also continue to grow and in 2006 accounted for 24.3% of the total, Austria ’s location at the heart of the EU region a key conributing factor.
