emarketforecasts - China

Abstract

In 2006, China became the largest producer of electronic products and events in the country dominate the global electronics industry. In 2008, electronic output increased by a further 12% to US$424 billion and followed growth of 18% in 2007 and 20% in 2006. In response to the global slowdown in the global economy electronics production declined by an estimated 3.3% in 2009 a decline in exports offset in part by demand in the domestic market linked to the government’s stimulus package. With the recovery in the global economy production is forecast to rise by 18% in 2010. Growth in exports has been the key factor in the emergence of China as the world’s largest producer of electronic products. In 2008, exports increased by 11% to US$362 billion and followed growth of 15% and 23% in 2007 and 2006, respectively. Exports, in response to the slowdown in the global economy, declined by 7.7% in 2009 to US$334 billion.
