Abstract
Despite the global economic slowdown growth in the Indian electronics industry in 2009 was on par with the previous year at 9.9%, although this was down on the double-digit growth achieved in 2006 and 2007. In 2010 output is forecast to grow by 13.6% and in the medium to long-term India will continue to show strong growth driven by a large, fast growing domestic market, significant foreign investment and an improving regulatory environment. India's consumer electronics industry, which has grown on the back of a massive and expanding market, accounted 22% of electronics output in 2009. The sector however continues to lose overall share of production as output in the computing and more recently communications segments increases.
