Abstract
Electronics production fell by 2.4% in 2006. This compares to a decline of 1.0% in 2005 and 4.1% in 2004.
Since 2000, EDP production has fallen year on year a trend which is forecast to continue in both 2007 and 2008. It has remained however, the largest sector accounting for 27.4% of the total in 2006. Other important sectors include control and instrumentation, which accounted for 22% of the total, medical 18% and components 16%.
The Dutch company Oce is a leading manufacturer of photocopiers and printers and the primary reason why the Netherlands is ranked second in Europe for the production of office equipment, down from number one a year earlier. The decline in production reflects a major restructuring of Oce.
