emarketforecasts - Sweden
Abstract
In 2009, total electronics production fell by an estimated 8.9% and compared to a falls of 4.3% a year earlier and 3.3% in 2007. The Swedish electronics industry is driven by the production of radio communications and telecommunications equipment and in 2009 the two sectors accounted for 68% of total output, down marginally from 69% a year earlier. Production of radio communications equipment fell by an estimated 13.5% in 2009 and compared to a decline of 6.8% and 9.0% in 2008 and 2007, respectively. The decline in 2009, as in the prior two years, reflected a slowdown in exports as an increasing proportion of production is transferred offshore. Telecommunications output fell by 4.6% in 2009 after a decline of 3.7% in 2008 and flat growth in 2007. Production across both the fixed and wireless segments will increase in both 2010 and 2011 as the market recovers from the global downturn in 2009. Telecommunications accounted for 37.2% of total electronics output in 2009 and was the largest sector ahead of radio communications (31.2%).
