emarketforecasts - Turkey
Abstract
Following growth of 7.1% in 2006 electronics output has declined year on year in the period to 2009 on the back of a double-digit fall in video equipment production, the mainstay of the Turkish electronics industry. In 2004, production of TVs reached 19 million but declined to 9.5 million in 2009. With production focused towards CRT TVs Turkish manufacturers were severely impacted by the faster than anticipated transition to flat panel TVs. Production capacity is being switched from CRT to LCD TVs which will result in relatively stable growth since 2008. In revenue terms production is projected to increase in 2010 on the back of rising volumes.
