Production in the Danish electronics industry increased by 9.4% in 2015 and, based on preliminary government data, is forecast to grow by 4.6% in 2016. Growth is expected to ease in 2017 to 4.0% in part due slower growth in the medical sector after two years of double-digit growth. Denmark is an important world producer of electro-medical equipment, which has experienced significant growth rates. The largest groups in this category are electro‑diagnostic equipment and hearing aids, each of which made up around 15% and 84% of total production of the sector in 2016, respectively. After declining by 2.5% in 2014 the production of hearing aids has shown double-digit growth in both 2015 and 2016. The production of electro-diagnostic equipment has in contrast posted only modest growth of 1.6% in 2015, a further 0.9% in 2016 and is expected to increase by around 1.5% in 2017. Components accounted for 19% of electronics output in 2016, primarily through the production of loudspeakers and in particular for use in hearing aids. In 2016, loudspeakers accounted for 19.9% of total electronic component production with output increasing by 3.4% during the year. Production is forecast to increase by a further 4.3% in 2017.
