The strength of Switzerland's electronics industry lies in a small range of niche products, with high added value. Control and instrumentation, and consumer goods (mainly watches) are the two sectors of industry, which dominate Swiss electronics output. Watch production is the major industry accounting for 33% of total production with control and instrumentation having a 30% share in 2015. Electronics production increased by 1.4% in 2014 and compared to a dacline of 3.1% in the prior year. In 2014, the key watch industry declined by 3.0% on the back of weaker exports. The decline in the watch industry was partially offset by growth in the industrial segment and in particular medical and industrial. Output in the control and instrumentation sector increased by 2.5% in 2014 but is forecast to ease to 0.5% as manufacturers  looked to utilise overseas operations to offset the impact of the the ending of the peg for the Swiss franc against the euro. Medical increased by 7.9% in 2014 and followed a modest decline of 1.2% in the prior year and is forecast to show growth of 2.0% in 2015 before accelerating to 4.5% in 2015.
