The Swedish electronics industry remains centred on the production of fixed and wireless infrastructure equipment, the two sectors accounting for 51% of electronics output in 2015, a decline of 10.0% compared to the year earlier. In 2015, total electronics production declined by 4.4% with growth in control and instrumentation and industrial offset by the on-going weakness in the communications sector. Electronics output declined by a forecasted 5.0% in 2016, continued growth in control and instrumentation being offset by falling output across the remainder of the industry. Electronics output is expected to stabilise in 2017 as the European and global economy strengthens although it is expected to be insufficient to stop output falling by a further 2.5%. Production of wireless communications equipment declined by an estimated 10% in 2015 and is forecast to fall by a further 21% in 2016 and 19% in 2017.  In the same period telecommunications output declined by 10.0% and is forecasted to fall by 2.0% in 2016 before posting growth of 1.5% in 2017. Telecommunications accounted for 26% of total electronics output in 2015 and wireless communications 25.4%. Radar and navigation accounted for 8.7% of electronics output in 2015, the sector posting growth of 9.7% during the year. Growth however, is expected to ease to 2.2% in 2016 and then accelerate to 4.3% in 2017. The other predominant sectors are control and instrumentation with a 24.5% share in 2015, up from 7.5% in 2000, and components with a 10.6% share. Computer equipment accounted for only 1.5% of the total, while consumer production was negligible.
